Many utility services within the Town of Essex such as water, hydro, and natural gas are provided by a third party. Please note that these services are NOT provided by the Town of Essex. If you are experiencing service issues, please contact the appropriate company for support.

Hydro

There are two providers of hydro in the Town of Essex. Please reference your hydro bill to determine your hydro provider.

E.L.K. Energy

ELK Energy Service Map

Customers can submit a damage claim by contacting E.L.K. Energy at 519-776-5291 or complete the online form.
In the event of a power outage, Customers are encouraged to contact E.L.K. Energy directly to report it at 519-776-5291, toll free at 1-877-355-7798, or by completing the online form.

Streetlights

Streetlights: E.L.K. Energy services the maintenance of Town of Essex streetlights. If you observe a non-working streetlight in the Town of Essex, we encourage you to report it online or call 519-776-7336, ext. 1100 or 1101 during regular business hours (Monday to Friday - 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.).

Hydro One

Hydro One Service Area Map

Customers can submit a damage claim through Hydro One’s Customer website at www.hydroone.com/claims.
In the event of a power outage, Customers are encouraged to contact Hydro One directly to report it online or by calling 1-800-434-1235. Additional helpful information about outages available on the Hydro One website.

Water Treatment

Three water treatment plants service the water needs of Essex residents - Union Water Treatment Plant, the Harrow and Colchester South Water Treatment Plant, and the Amherstburg Water Treatment Plant.
