
Report a Problem is an online service that allows residents to report issues related to Town infrastructure, parks, facilities, short term rental units (STRs), bylaws, and much more.
To report a problem online, simply visit the Service Request Portal and complete the form. Town staff will review the service request and respond accordingly.
In addition, residents can report a problem at any of the Town's facilities, or by calling 519-776-7336, ext. 1100 or 1101 during regular business hours (Monday to Friday - 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.).
To report an urgent problem that poses an immediate threat to public health or safety outside of regular business hours, please call 519-776-7336.
If the problem is an emergency, please contact 911.

*Please note, anonymous by-law complaints will not be reviewed and the Town of Essex does not respond to civil matters.
Please check your junk mail folder for all communication regarding your request, and identify them as Not Junk. Please note that while the Complainant’s personal information and identity is kept strictly confidential, the municipality is not able to investigate or process anonymous complaints. Complainant information must be disclosed to the municipality but will not be disclosed to others. The Town keeps the identity of every complainant confidential in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Step-By-Step Instructions
1. Select Problem Type
Start by typing a keyword that best describes your issue – for example, 'pothole' or 'noise complaint' – or choose a problem type from the list.
2. Enter Problem Details
Next, tell us more about the problem. The more detail, the better. If you have a photo, you can upload it here to help us better understand the issue.
3. Add a Location
Begin typing the address to select a known location, or use the red location icon at the top right to place a pin on the map.
Want to be more precise? Use the 'Draw a polygon' tool to highlight a specific area. You can also add any extra location details that might help our team find the issue faster.

4. Contact Information
Enter your name and email address. Your phone number is optional. Let us know if you'd like a follow-up call about your request.
Click 'Submit'. A unique Service Request Number will be assigned, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with that number for reference.
How to Check the Status of your Request
To check the status of your request at any time, simply return to the system and click the ‘Check Service Request Status’ button in the top righthand corner. Enter your Service Request Number and Last Name to view the status of your request.
