Emergencies can happen at any time and without warning. An emergency can force evacuation or confinement in one place without basic services such as water, gas, electricity or a working telephone.  Be ready. With a little preparation, you can respond quickly to help yourself and others.

Ontario's Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act requires all municipalities to develop and implement an Emergency Management Program. The Town of Essex has implemented an Emergency Management Program that includes the following:

  • Town of Essex Emergency Response Plan
  • Identification of critical infrastructure
  • Annual training for the Emergency Operations Centre staff
  • Annual exercise to evaluate the emergency plan
  • Public awareness program (approved by the Province)
