Recruitment Timeline

Step #1: Application & Resume Submission
Applications are available online. Paper copies are also available at Essex Town Hall (33 Talbot Street South, Essex) and Essex Fire and Rescue Headquarters (55 Alice Street North, Essex).

Timeline: December 18, 2024, to January 22, 2024

Step #2: Written Aptitude Test
Test to be conducted at Essex Fire & Rescue Station #2 (3575 North Malden Road).

Timeline: Two testing opportunities will be hosted in early – Mid February. Final date to be determined. (tentatively scheduled for February 9^th & 10^th)

Step #3: Medical Testing/Evaluation
Applicants will be required to obtain medical, hearing, and vision testing/evaluations. Only medical evaluation forms supplied by the Town of Essex will be accepted.

Timeline: February/March 2024

Step #4: Oral Interview
Successful candidates will be invited to interviews with the Town of Essex.

Timeline: March 2024

Step #5: Job-related Physical Ability Testing
applicants will undergo a physical ability test at Essex Fire Rescue.
