Essex District High School Walking Detour
With the new school year just around the corner, the Town of Essex is reminding students and families to plan ahead when walking to and from Essex District High School while construction continues at the Maidstone Avenue and Talbot Street North intersection.
A designated walking detour has been established to help students safely navigate around the construction area. The Town has created a map outlining the recommended route and encourages students and families to review it before the first day of school.
Students walking to school should:
- Follow the designated walking route and temporary signage.
- Stay on sidewalks and marked pedestrian routes detailed in the map.
- Never enter the construction area, even if it looks like a shorter route.
- Where applicable, follow directions from flag persons.
The Town appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as this important project progresses.
Pedestrian detours are subject to change without notice due to dynamic construction activities. Where posted detours differ from the posted maps, pedestrians and motorists should always follow applicable signage and traffic control devices, including fencing and construction cones/barrels.
