The Town of Essex is Recruiting Election Workers
The Town of Essex is recruiting temporary election workers to support the delivery of the 2026 Municipal Election.
Election staff play an important role in ensuring voting locations operate efficiently and that electors receive the assistance they need throughout the voting process. Opportunities are available for Deputy Returning Officers, Voters' List Amendment Clerks, Tabulator Deputy Returning Officers, and Information Officers/Greeters at voting locations throughout Essex Centre, Harrow, McGregor, and Colchester.
"Working the Municipal Election is an amazing way to engage with residents and support your local community," said the Town of Essex Election Coordinator. "It is a rewarding opportunity to contribute, gain valuable experience, and participate in this important democratic process."
Election workers can expect to:
- Support voters throughout the voting process.
- Verify voter information and issue ballots (role dependent).
- Operate electronic voters' lists and other election technology.
- Help maintain accessible, welcoming and non-partisan voting locations.
- Work as a team to support the secure and accurate administration of the election.
Successful applicants will work during advance voting days and/or Election Day, depending on operational needs. Individuals may be assigned to more than one voting day or more than one role.
Most election positions offer $225 to $300 per day, plus $50 to $60 for mandatory training, depending on the position. All positions require availability for up to 13 hours on assigned voting days (up to 12 hours for Information Officers/Greeters), with workers remaining on-site for the duration of their shift.
