Pesticide Use with the Town of Essex

The Town of Essex intends to control phragmites in ditches along select municipal rural roadsides within Town of Essex. 

The Town of Essex will be using the following pesticides registered under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada):

• VisionMAX Silviculture Herbicide (PCP Registration No. 27736), containing the active ingredient Glyphosate present as potassium salt.
• Arsenal Powerline Herbicide (PCP Registration No. 30203), containing the active ingredient Imazapyr present as isopropylamine salt.

We are controlling Phragmites under Public Works Exception of the Cosmetic Pesticides Ban for the promotion of public health or safety per section 7.1(2) of the pesticides Act.

Spraying will commence on September 18th, 2026 weather permitting and continue until October 18th, 2026.
