New Commercial Development Breaks Ground in Essex Centre

A new commercial plaza is under construction in Essex Centre, featuring restaurants such as Wendy’s, Mary Brown’s, Osmow’s, Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House, and City Pizza. The project will bring more dining options and local jobs to the growing community. The plaza is set to open in Spring 2025.

Completion of Essex Centre Streetscapes Project

This project represents a multi-million dollar investment of infrastructure improvements and beautification in the downtown core of Essex Centre. Upgrades included a variety of streetscape elements such as AODA-compliant sidewalks/crosswalks, curbing, bicycle racks, landscape treatments and plantings, and streetlight enhancements. Significant infrastructure improvements also took place along Victoria Avenue.

Completion of Harrow Streetscape Project

This project represents a multi-million dollar investment of infrastructure improvements and beautification in the urban core of Harrow. This project has implemented many improvements to overall infrastructure, including the renewal of storm sewer and watermain infrastructure, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Groundbreaking for Essex Centre Streetscape Project

Improvements to downtown Essex Centre have begun with the launch of the Essex Streetscape project. The project represents a multi-million dollar investment of infrastructure improvements and beautification. This project will implement a variety of streetscape elements such as AODA-compliant sidewalks/crosswalks, curbing, bicycle racks, landscape treatments and plantings, and streetlight enhancements.

Groundbreaking for Home Hardware Building Centre Development

Due to the success of its previous location, the Essex Home Hardware Building Centre is relocating to a more centralized and visible location to better serve the community. This project costing over $13 million will require 20-30 additional employees to help support the new facility.

The Grove Motel

Groundbreaking for The Grove Motel

The planned 70s retro-themed, two-storey, 28-room motel will be a welcomed addition to County Road 50 and the Town of Essex as a whole. The motel will provide a great option for out of town tourists to stay the night and enjoy all the local tourism attractions that the Town of Essex has to offer. 

Liftow

Liftow Limited Groundbreaking

After 40 years at their Windsor location, Liftow Limited, the largest Toyota forklift dealer group in North America, is moving to a new state of the art facility in the Town of Essex. Recent development in and around the Town of Essex played a part in Liftow determining that they could better serve their client base from this new location. 

VIN Winery

Opening of VIN Winery

VIN Winery is the newest addition to the collection of wineries in the Town of Essex. This opening will increase the options available to locals and tourists when they are choosing which local winery to visit and bring more jobs to the Town of Essex. The 31-acre property boasts a large pond, four kilometres of walking trails that snake through old growth Carolinian forest, and five acres of planted grapes.

SouthPoint Equipment Groundbreaking

The new development, SouthPoint Equipment, is a significant addition to the Highway 3 commercial and industrial corridor. The 10,000 square foot commercial space will serve the entire county and sell the full line of Kubota products serving the turf, farm, residential, commercial turf and snow, and construction sectors.

Award-Winning Winery Set to Open Restaurant

North 42 Degrees Estate Winery in Colchester has expanded and created new jobs. The new investment is a result of the increasing tourist traffic in the area. Their location along the historic County Road 50 is ideal as it is home to other successful wineries and a strong growing climate.

Schinkel's Meat Market Expands in Essex

After 57 years located in the Town of Essex, Schinkel's Meat Market has gone through a major expansion. The new location will offer an expanded menu of goods and products. With the expansion, the business has so far hired an additional 12 part-time staff, on top of the 17 current employees.

A&W Opening in Essex

The new location will be located on Maidstone Avenue West and Highway 3 right by the Canadian Tire. There is a population of over 12,000 people within a 10-minute drive of the Essex location. The new A&W restaurant will draw traffic from Essex Centre, as well as the surrounding rural areas as well as traffic traveling between Leamington and Windsor along Highway 3.
