The Town of Essex operates the Essex Recreation Complex (ERC) in conjunction with the Greater Essex County District School Board. Built as an addition to Essex District High School, the ERC offers a wide range of aquatic and life-saving programs. Facilities and amenities include:

Gym A

Gym A is a gymnatorium with stage and bleacher seating for up to 550, plus 175 floor seats. In addition, there is access to a kitchenette with a concession-style sliding window. Other amenities include:

• Stage
• Double gym with electronic divider
• 6 basketball nets that can be raised/lowered
• Fridge, stove, microwave and freezer

The pool facility includes a four-lane 25-metre lap pool and Tarzan rope, a leisure pool and 33-metre waterslide, and a training pool with stretch bars.

Male, female, and universal change rooms are available. Amenities include:

• General pool toys and equipment, including flutter boards, pool noodles, personal flotation devices, etc.
• Accessible pool features and equipment, including a submergible pool wheelchair, and submerged ramp into leisure pool

All Purpose Room

Suitable for training programs, workshops and meetings for up to 50 people. Amenities include:

• Audio system with CD player and MP3 input
• Portable LCD television with blu-ray player and computer input
• Projector and projector screens
