Mayor's Message - Spring 2026

Sherry Bondy
Dear Residents of the Town of Essex,
As we near completion of the Town Hall expansion and consolidation, I want to take a moment to update you on our progress and share what lies ahead for our community.

Over the past several months, construction has been booming at Town Hall, and it’s exciting to see our vision come to life. This significant investment will soon deliver a modern, accessible, and welcoming municipal space for all. The expansion includes a new, larger state-of-the-art Council Chambers, a redesigned front entrance and customer service counter, additional office space, and most importantly, the ability to bring all Town services together under one roof. This is a major step forward in improving how we serve you.

That said, we recognize the construction process has not been easy. Temporary entrance closures, limited parking, and the general inconvenience that comes with a project of this scale have impacted residents and staff. I want to sincerely thank everyone for your patience and understanding during this transitional time.

I would also like to extend a special acknowledgment to our Town staff. Despite these challenges, they have remained committed to delivering high-quality service every day. With Tax due dates approaching and planning underway for upcoming capital projects and the municipal election, our staff have worked diligently to provide the best customer experience to our valued residents.

As the spring season approaches, we are entering one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year in Essex. Soon, our outdoor amenities such as the Colchester Harbour and our parks will reopen for the season. In addition, seasonal road maintenance and capital projects will be underway across the municipality to keep our infrastructure safe and reliable.

We encourage residents to continue staying engaged and informed. If you notice an issue or concern in the community, please report it through our convenient online tool at www.essex.ca/reportaproblem. This helps us respond quickly and efficiently to your needs.

We are excited to welcome you into the improved Town Hall soon and to continue building a community we can all be proud of.

Thank you again for your patience, cooperation, and ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Sherry Bondy

Mayor, Town of Essex
