Candidate Financial Filings

Candidates for office are required to submit financial details of their campaign. Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act (“Act”) the Clerk shall make available to the public the financial statements filed by the candidates under section 88.25 of the Act. The financial statements that were filed for the 2018 municipal election are provided below:

Pursuant to the provisions of section 88.33 of the Act, an elector who is entitled to vote in an election and believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Act relating to election campaign finances may apply for a compliance audit of the candidates election campaign finances. The application must be in the form and manner specified by the Act and the application deadline is within 90 days after the latest of the following dates:

  • The Candidate financial statement filing date (March 29, 2019)
  • The date the candidate files the financial statement if the statement was filed within 30 days after the application filing date pursuant to section 88.30 of the Act ( up to April 29, 2019);
  • The candidates supplemental filing date if any (under section 88.30 of the Act);
  • The date on which the candidates extension period to file (under section 88.23(6) of the Act) the financial statement has expired
