As part of Infrastructure and Development, the Environmental Services Department provides services to Essex residents in the following areas:
- Operation, repair and maintenance of the Town’s water distribution system, including emergency repairs
- Repairs to and replacement of water meters
- Flushing over 700 fire hydrants and dead end water mains within the system
- Resolving customer complaints regarding water billings
- Operation, repair and maintenance of the Town’s sewage collection system
The Ontario Clean Water Agency has been contracted to operate and maintain the Essex Pollution Control Plant and the Harrow and Colchester South Water Treatment Plant.
