The primary mandate of the Essex Accessibility Advisory Committee is to consult with and provide advice to Council on the annual municipal accessibility plan for the Town of Essex.
The Committee is also responsible to review and advise Council on the following 7 accessibility issues:

The Committee is made up of 1 member of Council and up to 12 members who are appointed by Council from the community. The Mayor may also attend meetings as an ex officio. The Ontarians with Disabilities Act requires that the majority of the Committee members be persons with disabilities.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee meets 10 to 12 times per year, or more often as deemed necessary.
