Whether you're into organized sports or simply want to kick around a soccer ball, the Town of Essex has a wide range of outdoor sports facilities to choose from:
The Parks and Facilities Department handles the scheduling of most sports fields, excluding Co-An Park, which handles its own scheduling.

Essex Centre
Essex Sports Park
Fairview Avenue West
- Diamond #1 is used primarily for fastball (15U, 18U and Senior) and adult slow pitch. It offers night lighting, boundary fence, warning track and enclosed dugouts. Public washrooms nearby.
- Diamond #2 is used primarily for fastball (11U and 13U) and women's slow pitch. It has no boundary fences but does have a shaded dugout. Public washrooms nearby.
- Diamond #3 is used for younger divisions (T-ball and 9U). Centrefield is not fenced. Public washrooms nearby.
Essex Soccer Fields
Fairview Avenue West
- The Essex Soccer Fields include two senior and two junior level fields. A covered pavilion is available for public use, organized events and rentals.
Essex Public School Diamond

- Diamond #4 was reconstructed in 2012 and is intended for the primary divisions and women's softball.
Essex Skateboard Park
Fairview Avenue West
- This skateboard park includes a quarter pipe, a banked ramp, a double-sided ramp, a ledge, and rails.
Essex Tennis/Pickleball Courts

- Located near the Essex Centre Sports Complex and Maedel Community Centre, three tennis/pickleball courts are available for community use. Evening lighting shuts off automatically at 11pm. Asphalt-based surfaces are painted clay in colour.

Harrow Fairgrounds & Pollard Park
243 McAffee Street
- Diamond #1 is also called the Lighted Diamond. It is used for primary divisions up to 13U, as well as softball.
- Diamond #2 is also called the Grandstand Diamond. Grandstand seating for 300 is available. This diamond is used for primary divisions up to 13U, as well as softball.
- Diamond #3 is called the High School Diamond. It is used for primary divisions up to 13U, as well as women's softball.
- Diamond #4, also called Blue's Diamond, is located in Pollard Park. This diamond is fenced and offers enclosed dugouts, a warning track and specified bullpens. It is used primarily for 15U level or higher, as well as softball.
- Diamond #5 is the small diamond beside Blue's Diamond. It is used for 13U and under.
- Diamond #6 is located next to Harrow Park and Harrow Skateboard Park. This diamond is used strictly for T-ball.
Harrow Soccer Complex
2225 Roseborough Road
- This new soccer complex offers three senior level fields, one intermediate field, and three junior level fields. Four sets of bleachers provide ample seating near the senior fields. An adjacent fieldhouse is equipped with four dressing rooms, two referee rooms, and public washrooms. A 1.2km walking/running track surrounds the fields. Ample parking available.
Harrow Skateboard Park

- This skateboard park includes a quarter pipe, a banked ramp, a double-sided ramp, a ledge, and rails.
Harrow Tennis/Pickleball Courts

- Located near the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre, three tennis/pickleball courts and a practice wall are available for community use. Evening lighting shuts off automatically at 11pm. Asphalt-based surfaces are painted green.

Co-An Park

- Co-An Park offers six baseball diamonds and three soccer fields (two junior and one adult), plus two tennis/pickleball courts, a picnic shelter and pavilion, washroom facilities and a canteen. Tennis/pickleball courts are useable during daylight hours and open from April to October.
Sports field maintenance
Routine maintenance and grooming of sports fields begins on May 1 and continues until Labour Day weekend. Special requests for diamond grooming can be arranged at time of booking.
Grass cutting at ball diamonds is typically done twice a week and at soccer fields once a week, depending on weather and growth conditions. The cutting height is set at 3 inches and different directions are used on each cutting to maximize growth.
Field closures
The Town of Essex reserves the right to close sports fields at any time due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. User groups will be contacted and signs posted on the field as soon as possible. Watch our Facebook page and Twitter feed for changes, or call one of our field closure lines:
