In January 2024, the Town of Essex will assume the billing for water and wastewater services from E.L.K. Energy Inc. moving forward. This transition is designed to streamline the billing process and enhance customer service for residents.
Residents are asked to continue to make payments to E.L.K. Energy Inc. until the first bill is received from the Town of Essex in 2024.
Following the transition, residents who receive electricity from E.L.K. Energy will continue to receive a bill from E.L.K. Energy Inc. for electricity charges only.
“The transition of water and wastewater billing from E.L.K. Energy Inc. to the Town of Essex is a significant change for both residents and staff.” said Sherry Bondy, Mayor. “This transition represents a substantial cost savings for our ratepayers, and we are well-prepared to offer residents high-quality customer service.”
Open House
To ensure residents are well-informed about the upcoming changes, the Town of Essex will host an Open House event on November 30, 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Essex Centre Sports Complex - Shaheen Room, located at 60 Fairview Avenue West. This event will provide residents with an opportunity to learn about the new billing process, understand how to update pre-authorized payments, and address any questions they may have.
Payment Options
Prior to the transition date, residents can opt-in for the pre-authorized payment plan or paperless billing by visiting www.essex.ca/WaterBilling. Residents who opt for paperless billing will receive their water/wastewater bill via email and receive a discount of $1.25 per bill. Additional payment options available.
