Research Project Seeking Respondents to Provide Feedback on Changes to Recreational Programming in the Town of Essex
The Town of Essex, in conjunction with the University of Windsor Faculty of Human Kinetics, is seeking survey respondents for a research study examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on participation in recreational programs.
The online survey seeks to examine how recreational programming and residents’ participation in programs changed over the course of the last two years.
Throughout the pandemic, the Town of Essex continued to provide as many programs as possible while adhering to public health restrictions. The results of the study will help the Town of Essex consider the impact of program changes and what barriers residents may have faced with the move to virtual and self-guided programs.
“By offering their feedback, residents and participants will help give us a better idea of how the changes to our programming impacted their experience or access to our services,” said Cynthia Cakebread, Manager, Recreation & Culture. “Moving forward, we’ll be able to use the information provided to reduce barriers and ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the wide range of programs we offer.”
The project has been spearheaded by Jared Garon, a University of Windsor Masters of Human Kinetics student and Town of Essex Community Services Administrative Intern. The project is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Gee.
If you or someone you know has participated in at least one of the Town of Essex’s recreational programs in the year prior to or during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wish to provide feedback, you are invited to click on the survey link and review the Letter of Information for Consent to Participate in Research for more information:
