Online Dog Licensing Now Available in Essex

Residents of the Town of Essex can now register and pay dog licensing fees online with the Milo Animal Licensing & Management System! Milo simplifies the process to manage pet licences from the comfort of home. To get started, visit essex.milotag.com and create an account on your computer, smartphone, or tablet. Follow the simple on-screen instructions to request or renew a licence and pay by Visa, Mastercard, or direct withdrawal. Milo also allows you to stay up to date with your licenses by offering auto-renewal.

Current dog owners in the Town of Essex will receive an invoice for dog tag licence fees this week. Dog tags are now issued for the lifetime of the dog, with fees paid annually. For 2022, if license fees are not paid between January 1 and April 30, the licence fee will double on May 1. Please note that unspayed/unneutered dogs will no longer carry additional fees and tags for service and police dogs are provided at no charge.

Dog owners are also reminded of the other requirements outlined in the Town’s Animal Care and Control By-law, including:

• Residents are allowed a maximum of three dogs per household.
• Dogs and other animals cannot be tethered or chained for longer than four hours.
• Owners are banned from driving with an animal in the back of an open pickup truck and from leaving an animal in a car when the temperature is too hot or cold.
