Town of Essex Mayor Larry Snively would like to wish the community a happy Labour Day weekend.
“To all the hardworking people of the Town of Essex, enjoy your long weekend and stay safe” Snively said. “Please follow the recommendations of public health officials to ensure our community can continue recovering from the impacts of COVID-19.”
In light of the Labour Day celebrations and in recognition of the cancellation of the 166th Annual Harrow Fair, Mayor Snively also encouraged residents to thank a farmer this weekend.
“Every year, the Harrow Fair recognizes the people who put food on our tables every day and the farm families who work to make some of the best farm products in the world,” he said. “On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank our community’s farmers and encourage our citizens to do the same.”
“I’d also like to thank and recognize Ward 4 Councillor Sherry Bondy, who is asking our community to post their pictures and memories of past Harrow Fairs using the hashtag #166HarrowFair on Facebook and other social media. This is a great idea to keep the Harrow Fair, and all the people who make it happen, in our hearts.”
As a reminder, Town of Essex offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, returning to regular operating hours on Tuesday, September 8.
