The Town of Essex wants to know what you think of 13 concept proposals for new playground equipment at Bridlewood Park (also called “Big Hill Park”), located on Milne Street South in Essex Centre.
At an Open House scheduled for Wednesday, May 11 at the Essex Centre Sports Complex (Shaheen Room), concept drawings of the playground equipment will be on display and members of the community will be able to rank their top choices. The designs will be on display from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and staff will be on hand to answer questions.
“Bridlewood Park was identified during the 2015 Master Plan public consultation process as a park in need of urgent refurbishment,” says Doug Sweet, Director of Community Services.
“To that end, Council has approved a fixed budget of $175,000 for this project and we hope to have the project completed by the end of June, just in time for the school break.”
In compliance with the Town’s tendering process, equipment designs are required to be suitable for the 2- to-12-year-old age group and include modern features, accessible components, and a soft, rubberized ground surface.
“Residents must attend the open house to provide input and rank their favourite designs,” says Sweet. “No online voting or other forms of input will be accepted or counted.”
Community input is an important part of the process and the project will be awarded once public input is factored into all of the evaluation criteria.
The Essex Centre Sports Complex is located at 60 Fairview Avenue West in Essex Centre.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
