Street Trees

The Town of Essex plants trees to beautify neighbourhoods and contribute to cleaner air quality. Street trees are typically planted close to the road on the Town’s easement to your property.

In the case of new subdivisions, the stage of development will determine whether the developer or the Town of Essex is responsible for your street tree.

The location of the tree on your property will also determine whether you or the Town of Essex is responsible for its maintenance.

Regular maintenance

From time to time, the Town of Essex will conduct a review of street trees and may trim, remove and/or replace trees. ELK Energy may also trim trees to reduce interference with hydro lines.
