What types of problems are accepted? |
The online reporting system is designed to address submissions of a non-urgent or non-emergency nature. If you encounter a problem which poses a threat to public safety please contact Town Hall at 519-776-7336 or Emergency Services at 911. For a summary of problem types within each category, please see the list below. |
How can I request new budget items? |
The Report a Problem system is not used for requests for new roads, sidewalks, or infrastructure. If you're interested in making a request for new capital projects, please consider contacting your Ward Councillor. |
What can I expect when I report a problem online? |
After you submit your problem online, you will receive an email to the address you provided. The email will include a Service Request ID Number which will help you and Town staff track the progress on the problem you submitted. You will also receive an update when work is scheduled and the work has been completed. |
What information do I need to include when I report a problem online? |
Your submission should include as much information as possible, including a detailed description of the problem and where the problem is located. Submissions must include your contact email and phone number so Town staff can follow up if more information is required. |
I don’t want to provide my email or phone number, can I still report a problem? |
The online reporting system is designed to provide updates on problems that have been submitted. The Town of Essex does not accept anonymous submissions. If you would like to report a problem without providing your contact information, please call the Town at 519-776-7336. |
My problem does not fall into one of these categories, what should I do? |
If the problem you are submitting does not fall under any of the categories, you can submit under the “Other/unsure” category. Your problem information will be reviewed by Town of Essex staff to direct it to the correct department. Otherwise, you can contact Town Hall at 519-776-7336 during regular business hours for advice on where to direct your problem. |
How long should I expect to wait for my problem to be fixed? |
Response time will depend on the nature of the problem. Some problems, for example, may be added to the course of regular work routines and be addressed within a few days or week. Other problems may take longer to address. If a problem is scheduled to be addressed in the future you will receive an email update. |
How will my information be used? Will it be kept confidential? |
