Ontario's Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act requires all municipalities to develop and implement an Emergency Management Program. The Town of Essex has implemented an Emergency Management Program that includes the following:
- Town of Essex Emergency Response Plan
- Identification of critical infrastructure
- Annual training for the Emergency Operations Centre staff
- Annual exercise to evaluate the emergency plan
- Public awareness program (approved by the Province)
