Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
More
About Electric Vehicles |
Electric vehicles have battery packs that need to be recharged by plugging into the electricity grid. Electric vehicle charging stations provide a public location for recharging. The time it takes to fully recharge an electric vehicle is based on the level, or speed, of the charging station. |
Where are the Charging Stations located? |
The charging stations are located in the parking lot of the Essex Centre Sports Complex at 60 Fairview Ave W. To find additional FLO charging stations, please refer to the FLO Network Interactive Map |
How much does it cost? |
The charging stations are equipped with payment technology. Users pay in advance with a credit card per hour, but only pay for the amount of time actually used. For current pricing, please visit the FLO website and search for the Essex location. |
How long does it take to charge a vehicle? |
The Level 3 charging stations (also known as Direct Current Fast Chargers or DCFC) can charge an electric vehicle to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. This is significantly quicker than the four-to-six hours required to fully charge an electric vehicle using a Level 2 charging station. |
Electric Vehicle Chargers Ontario (EVCO) Program |
The Town of Essex was among 24 public and private sector partners selected in 2016 to help create an expanded network of fast-charging electric vehicle stations across Ontario in 2017. |
