Cats - Town of Essex

The Town of Essex does not regulate the keeping of cats within the municipality. However, as a courtesy to your neighbours, we ask that you do not allow your cat to wander into your neighbours’ yards.

Stray Cats

In partnership with the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, the Town subsidizes the cost of taking stray cats found within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Essex to the Humane Society. The Town subsidizes $25.00 of the cost of this service.
