Recycling Collection

The Town of Essex offers residential curbside recycling collection for blue box (containers) and red box (paper) items.

Produced by the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority, the current calendar is available online from the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority or in print at Town Hall.

What goes where?

The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority provides a search function that allows residents to enter a material or product and receive information on whether it can be recycled curbside, brought to a depot, or disposed in the garbage. Find out how to recycle over 3,000 materials and products with the click of a button.

Recycling schedule

Recycling is generally collected in the Town of Essex on a bi-weekly schedule. Put your recycle bins out the night before or prior to 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled day.

Public drop-off depot

The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority operates a recycling depot at the Regional Landfill (7700 County Road 18). The depot accepts appliances, cardboard, electronics, municipal hazardous and special waste, recyclables, scrap metal, tires, and yard waste. It does not accept garbage.

Electronic waste drop-off

Drop off your consumer electronics, including computers, cellphones, televisions, printers, scanners, and digital cameras, at the Computers for Kids E-waste Drop Off Bins at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre (243 McAffee Street, Harrow) and the Essex Centre Sports Complex (60 Fairview Avenue).
Drop off your consumer electronics at the Essex Windsor Solid Authority Regional Recycling Depot at 7700 County Road 18, Essex.
Drop off your consumer electronics and other recyclables at the Essex Waste Depot (the Dome) at 14028 Pinkerton Sideroad.
