Outdoor Movie Night in Essex

The Town of Essex is back with the first outdoor movie night of the year in Essex Centre!

Kids and their families can enjoy Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, plus a few fun features at Essex Heritage Gardens (rain location: Essex Centre Sports Complex).

The first event, hosted in partnership with the Essex Firemen’s Association, will feature fire truck tours and important fire safety tips.

The event will also feature free popcorn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blanket and lawn chairs. The fire truck will arrive at 6pm, with the movie beginning at dusk.

Explore the Shore 2019

Location: County Road 50

A weekend event created from a partnership between businesses and organizations to promote tourism on Essex County Road 50 along the shore of Lake Erie south of Harrow, Ontario.

Spend the day reliving that drive along the Lake Road that you may have experienced in your life. Stop by one of the many businesses to sample the local foods, taste the local wine or check out the shops. It is the perfect event for all ages.

Participants offer a variety of unique activities to showcase their businesses. The variety of businesses include: farmers, wineries, road side vegetable stands, restaurants, bed and breakfast hoteliers, outdoor recreation (golf, conservation areas, beaches, harbour/marina), artists, authors, and small business owners.

We encourage you to visit as many locations as possible. At any participating location pick up an Explore The Shore brochure which contains a listing of all businesses’ activities as well as the grand prize passport!  To be eligible to win the grand prize, have any 5 businesses stamp or initial on their respective spot on the passport and drop the passport into the grand prize box.

We hope to encourage new visitors and repeat guests to visit businesses and organizations along County Road 50!

Colchester Family Fun Event

The Colchester Family Fun Event is back for the third year with an epic line-up of family-friendly fun, musical acts, entertainment, and more!

The event will kick off with a community Open House to be facilitated by the Town’s Planning department on the future of Colchester Centre. Community members are invited to drop in from 11 am to 2 pm to share their opinions and provide feedback on potential changes to the Colchester Secondary Plan which directs land use, tourism and recreation initiatives and design guidelines for Colchester Centre.

The event will also feature a wide range of family-friendly offerings.

  • Noon to 4:00pm- Bike Windsor Essex hosts their Bike Rodeo, which will teach kids important bike safety tips.
  • 1:00pm- Entertainer Beebo will wow the crowds with his unique musical stylings.
  • 2:30pm- Kingsport Environmental will show off their stunning Birds of Prey.
  • 3:30pm- Enchanted Adventure Parties will bring the magic with Princesses and Superheroes.

The party will continue into the evening with musical acts.

  • 5:30pm- Harrow’s own Max Marshall will bring his acoustic and folk stylings to the stage.
  • 6:45pm- Award winning local rock legend, Chistian Vegh, will wow the crowd with his guitar and musical talents.
  • 8:15pm- Canadian Celtic rockers, Mudmen, will crank up the volume with their bagpipe-laden rock and roll tunes.

The fun will finish with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by the Rafih Auto Group.

Event admission and parking are free. The Harrow Kinsmen will also be on-site with a BBQ fundraiser.
