Posted on Wednesday September 12, 2018

A collaborative project, which aims to boost local entrepreneurship and encourage small business growth, launched in Harrow on Tuesday, September 11.

The first of its kind in the Windsor Essex region, the contest will provide one lucky entrepreneur with up to $1,000 towards rent of a commercial space located at 43 King Street West, Harrow. The contest is made possible through a grant provided by Libro Credit Union’s Prosperity Fund.

The project is a collaborative effort between the Harrow and Colchester South Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Essex, and the WindsorEssex Small Business Centre. The partners launched the contest on Tuesday, September 11 at the space.

“The Harrow and Colchester Chamber of Commerce is very excited to announce the launch of this contest. Harrow is a hidden gem, which will shine with this project,” said Tammy Affleck, Chamber President. “Other communities have seen great success with similar initiatives and we are looking forward to welcoming potential new businesses to Harrow.”

“Small and independently owned business make up the fabric of our community,” said Nelson Silveira, Town of Essex Economic Development Officer. “This is a great opportunity to foster local entrepreneurship and grow small business in our community.”

“The WindsorEssex Small Business Centre is excited to partner with Libro Credit Union, the Town of Essex, and the Harrow and Colchester Chamber of Commerce on the Win This Space initiative,” said Shannon Dyck, Small Business Centre Manager. “We will provide applicants with business training, mentoring and one-on-one consultations with our team of Small Business Advisors.”
