Town to Host Development Charge Meeting

Posted on Thursday June 20, 2019

Council of the Town of Essex will hold a public meeting on Monday, July 15 to present and obtain public input on the municipality’s proposed development charges by-law and underlying background study. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at the Essex County Civic Centre starting at 5:00pm.

Development charges are fees paid by new development to fund municipal infrastructure and services such as sewer pipes and road improvements. Every five years, the municipality conducts a development charges background study to forecast the community’s future residential and non-residential growth to determine infrastructure needs and costs.

All interested parties are invited to attend the meeting and provide their opinion related to the proposed D.C. by-law and background study.

The background study is available for review online at the link below. Printed copies of the proposed by-law and the background study are also available at Town Hall, 33 Talbot Street South.

Interested persons may express their comments at the public meeting or in writing, addressed to the Town Clerk, 33 Talbot Street South, Essex, N8M 1A8, or via email to clerks@essex (Subject line: Development Charges Review).
