Mayor Ron McDermott

Mayor Ron McDermottRon McDermott, often referred to as "Tout" by his friends, was born and raised in Essex. He was elected Mayor in the 2003 Municipal Election and was re-elected in 2006, 2010 and 2014. As Mayor, Ron also sits as a member of Essex County Council.

Ron has an outstanding record of community involvement, including 11 years as an Executive Member or Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 201, 27 years as an Executive Member of the Essex County Senior Baseball League and Co-Commissioner for one year, 8 years as a Member of the Kingsville-Essex Community Band and 22 years as a Member of the Windsor-Essex Sun Parlour Chorus.

Honoured as Essex Citizen of the Year in 2002, Ron was also a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award Medal that same year. In 2013, he received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Ron lives in Essex Centre and has five adult children.
