Legislative Services (Clerk)

The Manager of Legislative Services fulfills the statutory duties of the municipal clerk in accordance with the Ontario Municipal Act, as well as performing duties under the Drainage Act. The Clerk’s Office is responsible for the delivery of services in the following areas:

  • Council agendas, council minutes, resolutions and by-laws
  • Board and committee appointments
  • Birth, death and burial, and marriage certificates
  • Licenses and permits, including lottery, taxi, marriage and dog licenses, as well as parade and special occasion permits
  • Municipal records retention and management
  • Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act requests
  • Providing signing authority as a Commissioner of Oaths
  • Elections Officer accountable for organizing the municipal election every four years, compiling voter’s lists and ensuring proper procedures are followed by candidates and election staff
  • Employment of crossing guards
  • Claims for livestock damage
