2018 Summer Student Program

The Town of Essex hires students during the months of April to September (Harbour until October). Student application forms are available online at the link below or at the Municipal Building, 33 Talbot Street South, Essex, Ontario on January 3, 2018.

Students are required to submit one (1) application and resume for each position they are applying for. Applications and resumes must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018. Applications may be submitted:

  • in person at the Municipal Building, or
  • by mail to: Town of Essex, Summer Student Program, 33 Talbot Street South, Essex, Ontario, N8M 1A8

Applications received after the closing date and time will not be accepted.

How the Program Works

Student applications will be screened for qualifications, experience, field of study and other applicable eligibility requirements. Only students qualified will be contacted and will be subject to an interview process.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be in full-time attendance at a recognized secondary or post-secondary educational institution, and must be returning as a full-time student in the Fall.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age by May 1, 2018.
  • Evenings and weekend work may be required. Students must be available to work scheduled shifts.
  • Once hired, as a condition of employment, where required, students must provide at their own expense CSA Green Patch safety shoes or boots, a satisfactory Driver's Abstract from the Ministry of Transportation and a satisfactory Police Clearance.
  • Work clothing must be in accordance with the standards set by the hiring department.
