Essex Town Council generally meets the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the County Council Chambers at the Essex Civic Centre (360 Fairview Avenue West). When a meeting would fall on a holiday, it is moved to Tuesday.

Minutes of Council meetings are released as part of the next meeting agenda. They are posted in the Council Calendar after they are approved.
Correspondence to council
Written correspondence and information submitted to the Town of Essex through online forms or other formats (e.g. emails, letters, petitions, etc.) may be placed in a public agenda and become part of the public record. Personal and other information contained in correspondence may be subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and may be deemed releasable under this legislation. This means that the anonymity or confidentiality of the sender and any information contained within the correspondence cannot be guaranteed.

Proclamations provide a means for Council to promote public awareness campaigns, charitable fundraising campaigns, and arts and cultural celebrations of significance to the Town of Essex. Proclamations may also acknowledge special honours for individuals and organizations of the Town of Essex in recognition of a special achievement. To ensure that all requests are dealt with consistently, Council's endorsement of proclamations is based on a framework contained in the Proclamation Policy.
The Proclamation Request Form (online form) must be completed and submitted to the Clerk by all persons and organizations requesting that Council pass a proclamation. Draft wording for the proclamation must be submitted by separate email to the Clerk.
