The Town of Essex offers residential curbside garbage collection on a weekly schedule:

  • Monday Collection - All properties south of County Road 18 (Wards 3 and 4)
  • Wednesday Collection - All properties north of County Road 18 (Wards 1 and 2)

Place garbage out for collection the night before your scheduled collection day. Large items and furniture (but not white goods) can be put out on any regular garbage day.

White goods collection

White goods include appliances, metal items, hot water tanks, barbecues, bath tubs, sinks, etc. They are collected, free of charge, on the first Thursday of every month.

To be placed on a list for pickup, call Essex Town Hall at 519-776-7336 ext. 1100 or 1101 no later than noon on the Wednesday before the scheduled collection day.

The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority operates a recycling depot at the Regional Landfill (7700 County Road 18). The depot accepts appliances, cardboard, electronics, municipal hazardous and special waste, recyclables, scrap metal, tires, and yard waste. It does not accept garbage.

Electronic waste drop-off

Drop off your used toner and print cartridges at Essex Community Services, 35 Victoria Avenue, Unit 7, Essex.

Drop off electronics, including computers, cellphones, televisions, printers, scanners, digital cameras, and other recyclables at the Essex Waste Depot (the Dome) at 14028 Pinkerton Sideroad.
