The Town of Essex and members of the Essex Communities in Bloom Committee will partner with students and staff for a special Legacy Tree Planting event on Friday, April 21 at the following schools:
- Colchester North Public School
- St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School
- École Élémentaire Catholique Sainte-Ursule
- Harrow Public School
- Holy Name Catholic Elementary School
- Essex Public School
The Legacy Tree Planting Program is designed to allow the senior graduating class at each school to plant a tree in honour of Earth Day and present it as a gift to the Senior Kindergarten class. The program is intended to help create a legacy of environmental awareness over the course of a student’s academic life at the school, while also encouraging students to take pride in their community by enhancing and beautifying green spaces.
In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary, we will be planting Red Maples at each school.
This event has been made possible through funding from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, a national charity that funds over a thousand local environmental projects annually.
